Don’t arrange on a person being devoted to you either, the writer tells the lady he's currently wooing; concerning everybody plays around. Don’t bind a man; he can stray. Donne employs his known sarcastic wit; here may be a man whose “love” is non-exclusive and might be directed at multiple girls at identical time. Turning ancient ideas of fidelity the other way up, the pagan immortal of affection states that truth “heretics” (line 24) are those WHO desecrate her faith of unlawful carnal knowledge and indiscriminate sex. this can be not merely a matter of ideology; Venus engaged in associate empirical study and “examined” what individuals really do (line 22). The immortal additional calls fidelity “dangerous” (line 25) and points dead set the “true” girls that their lovers or husbands are “false to you” (line 27).
