METAPHOR
It is a figure in which a comparison between two different things is implied but not clearly stated ,"Let us take an example:"He is the pillar of the state".
In this sentence we notice that a comparison has been made between two different objects- 'He' and 'Pillar', and it is implied ,not clearly expressed with the help of words like -as,so ,such, like etc.
The chief characteristics of metaphor are:
1)One thing is compared to a different thing :
2)The other thing may be clearly present, masked or totally absent.
3)The comparison is implied ,not clearly stated.
